Surin is short — about 800 metres — and looks it on a map, but this is the west coast's most upscale patch of sand. Steep-sloping beach, water that turns glass-clear from November to April, casuarina trees for shade, and since the authorities cleared the sunbed and beach-club concessions, nothing on the sand but towels. Swim with care: the drop-off is quick, and in monsoon season Surin's rips are serious. There are no crowds of loungers because there are no loungers — bring everything you need.
Behind the beach, Surin village is compact and polished: wine bars, Twinpalms-era resorts, and some of the island's priciest condominiums per square metre. Buyers come here for walk-to-the-beach positioning and a quietly wealthy atmosphere rather than yield spreadsheets; stock is limited, and it prices accordingly.
